CAT 2017 result is out on 8th January 2018, lakhs of test takers were waiting eagerly for the results as this exam is the biggest decider of their career in management field. Cracking CAT means being part of elite institutes like IIM's and other Top B-schools around the nation, that nurtures them to kick start their career in top firms around the globe.

DO EVERYONE FIND SUCCESS IN CAT? THINK AGAIN.....

Around 2.5 lacs aspirants apply every year for CAT, out of which only 1% find success and the rest either give up or start preparing for the next year and the cycle continues. This doesn't means that the rest 99% are not good, it fairly means that the preparation done was not of IIM standard. Many of the students range between 90-97% and failed to get into IIM but definitely make into other top b-schools. But the majority of the students who give CAT aren't much interested in it, rather give it for a try or looking for a miracle to happen ultimately failing in exam and loosing all sorts of confidence and hence struggle with other exams too.
SO the question arrive is why to opt for CAT with "zero" percent confidence of clearing it?

WHAT OTHER OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE HERE ON?

Other management examinations has also gained equal importance as CAT and are much popular. Exams like NMAT(for NMIMS), SNAP(symboisis), XAT(XLRI), MBA-CET etc are most preferred by the aspirants. Chances of cracking this examinations are far superior than CAT. Also this examinations provide a great chance to be part of top B-schools.
This however doesnt mean that an average student cannot crack CAT, surely they can, but the hardwork required is done only by 1% of total aspirants. So it make sense only to apply for a competitive examination when you are 100% confident of facing it.

government jobs, jobs details, engineering
Over the years, the best possible choice for any student was to be an engineer. Engineering was considered among the top prestigious courses in the country.Today, the scenario has changed, engineering has lost its glow and has became the biggest contributor for unemployment in India.
A study suggest that around 6 lakhs engineering professionals are expected to lose their job over the span of next 2 years. Even Engineering graduates from prestigious institutes like IIT's and NIT's prefer to work in financing and consultancy companies rather than being a part of pure IT companies. A recent survey suggest that, most of the engineers see the B.E degree as a path towards a government jobs as they find it more secure in terms of security and packages.

So Why opt for Engineering when no one wants to work in it? Has the appetite for engineering died among the students?

To answer this, lets consider a government's own data report which states that, "around 400 private technical institutes were shut down in last 2 years, as the institutions lacked number of students and those who passed out of institutes remained unemployed"(source DNA).Many professionals suggest that, most of the students don't always join an engineering institute to be an engineer and start designing software's or car models but simply to get a job- any kind of job, in any field and the favorite among all choices is government job. Most of the engineering students even starts preparing for the government competitive examinations or management examinations before the end of their course.Hardly 10% of the total engineers opt for M.tech or MCA and they too aspire to be in a teaching job rather than joining an Engineering service company.
The latest released CSDS-KAS youth study in April 2017, suggest that around 65% of total youths in India prefer a government job and only 7% think of a private job. The tempt for the government job is noticeable as they provide pride, security and lucrative pay structure.

But how valuable is the B.E/B.tech degree for the government jobs?

Lets find this:

This tells that, nothing is working in technology industries, neither a priority for students nor a guaranteed job. Colwin Fernandes, chief technology officer of Opcito Technologies, says that
“Engineering graduates are completely lost. The whole idea is that people seem to be that, they think they are entitled to a job. If you are unemployable, you are not competing in the IT job market,” he said.
The market is changing drastically, due to advancements in technologies new jobs will arrive, but engineers may not be able to cope up with them.
